IBCItalia Opening Ceremony

Two educational institutes in Italy wear the cap and gown at their official ceremonies, Boccone, a prestigious university in Milano and IBCItalia. On June 26 the faculty and graduates of IBCItalia donned their caps and gowns for the first time and it was a success. Many of the students were overcome by their emotions as they wore their apparel with pride and a feeling of accomplishment. On September 4 we will have the opening ceremony for the academic school year. Wearing the caps and gowns…See More

Passing the baton

Do you remember the feelings you had on getting on a roller coaster? You felt the anticipation of the thrill of the speed as you flew around the ride, but there was an element of anxiety as you worried about what could go wrong. That might describe how Dr. Luigi Esposito, Angelo, and I feel as I pass the baton to them tomorrow. The church has grown to an attendance of around 200 and it is feeling growing pains. We now need to pass the baton to Italian leadership for the Italian contingent in the…See More

Merry Christmas!

Who is your God? That is the question we have been answering with our Christmas season preaching series. On Christmas Eve we will celebrate Christ and we expect to have a church full of friends and neighbors who do not recognize Jesus as their Savior. People steeped in tradition will hear the Gospel for perhaps the first time in their lives. Then, on Christmas day we have a celebration of Christ as the Alpha and Omega. Once again the church will be filled with people from a post-Christian…See More

International Baptist Church and Leadership Development (Istituto Biblico Cristiano)

We have an international Baptist church which was started as an Italian church in 1989. When the international church was closing its doors in 2005, we offered to assist them. We are now a multi-cultural, multi-lingual church meeting with one worship service. We are also attempting to develop Italian church leaders throughout Italy. We have classes in our building, we do lessons via Skype and we travel to churches throughout Italy to meet their needs. We also attempt to create and gather…See More

Annual Mission and Vision

What would have happened if churches did not reproduce disciples? The obvious answer is that the Gospel would never have spread like it did. What would happen now if churches no longer reproduce disciples? Obviously, churches would disappear and Christianity would be extinct. The leaders of our international church, Il Faro, is meeting to ensure that we are reproducing mature disciples.Pray for the leaders of the church as we meet this weekend in an attempt to clarify and affirm our mission and…See More

Bibliography

Some people have been asking what are some good books to read to learn more about Italy. I would recommend two to begin: The Dark Heart of Italy (Tobias Jones, 2003), and Gomorrah: Italy's other Mafia (Roberto Saviano).

A good book on Christian worldview is Total Truth by Nancy Pearcey. I went through this book with some friends and it is excellent for apologetics, especially in the U.S.

okay, I'll put it in the mail in the morning. Can you correct/make suggestions to my piece on About Italy in the letter? Some of my facts may be out of date or inaccurate and it would be nice to have your professional opinion.

Hey Tim, everything in Naples is going well. Yes, it's still hot here; I'm not expecting that to change any time soon. I'll make sure to tell everyone hi for you. Please tell Marcia and everyone else hello for me [us, I'm sure everyone else will say hi too]. Love you guys, hope everything's going well and you're enjoying yourselves.

Visits

January 31, 2012We would like to share about one family of the children at risk we have visited. One day we arrived to do the Bible study and both parents were drunk! Another day the father was at work and the mother was drunk with  with several other adults who were also drunk. One of the little girls was there by herself with those adults. We decided to take her to our house for the weekend and call a neighbor to let the mother know where her daughter was, which worked out fine because the…See More
