NN’s team didn’t do any pre-cooked food distribution today, but did distribute 111 ration packs. The army security folks that were providing them have moved on, so they are back on their own again. The shop owner that’s been providing rations gave the team 13 packs from his own personal side. “We trust you guys,” he said, “and know that you will give it to the needy rather than keeping it for yourselves like others.” His contribution was totally unsolicited. “Who are these guys, anyway?” someone else asked about NN’s team. “They do what they say they will—not just give us false hopes about coming back with aid and then never show up again.”

A lot of people are packing up and leaving places where they’ve been out in the open, and the army is going around, clearing people out and moving them into camps. This seems to have been partly prompted by outbreaks of violence and fighting over rations. There was no medical camp today. Dr. Barbara should be arriving tomorrow afternoon.

Hyderabad City (HYD)
The flow has crested and is just now starting to recede (barely). Tomorrow is still very critical as there is still a HUGE amount of water passing by the city. Opposite Hyderabad, apparently a couple spots in the levees opened up flooding lots of area in the Kotri side, but we believe these have been repaired. Prayer: Tents are desperately needed in the HYD area. Pray that we’ll get some from somewhere.

LifeLine
Saw 190 patients. Many people are asking for tents\shelters. We do hope to provide for them. It was encouraging at all places to see the response from patients. They were very thankful and said they know our medicine is far better than other doctors' (of course, we see how cheap\low quality is the medicine they are using). Most said they know Christians are serving with the whole heart. At our repeat visits to medical camps, the people become very friendly. May the Lord help and guide us to help them in future.

Visits

January 31, 2012We would like to share about one family of the children at risk we have visited. One day we arrived to do the Bible study and both parents were drunk! We decided to take her to our house for the weekend and call a neighbor to let the mother know where her daughter was, which worked out fine because the…See More
